Dancing Through The Bronx was a travelling festival of free, public site-specific dance in parks and green spaces around the Bronx.  For two summers, Dancing Through The Bronx highlighted various green spaces around the Bronx with dance created for those spaces by Bronx-based choreographers.

DANCING THROUGH THE BRONX

August 21 & 23, 2015

Artistic Advisor: Joanna Haigood

Dancing Through The Bronx featured choreography by Arthur Avilés, Marsi Burns, Shizu Homma, Monifa Kincaid, Rebecca Lloyd-Jones, and David Thomson.  Taking place over the span of two days in Owen Dolen Park and Hayden Lord Park, each choreographer used skills honed in a Site-Specific Incubator with Joanna Haigood to create a dance work highlighting the unique features of each space.

DANCING THROUGH THE BRONX

August 13, 14 & 16, 2014

Dancing Through The Bronx featured site-adaptive performances by choreographers Larry Keigwin and James "Cricket" Colter, and site-specific performances by Bronx-based choreographers Ni'Ja Whitson Adebanjo, Arthur Avilés, and Toni Renee Johnson.  Taking place over the course of a week at Wave Hill, Hayden Lord Park and Owen Dolen Park, each performance featured choreography by Larry Keigwin and James "Cricket" Colter adapted to the unique space and features of each park, as well as a dance choreographed specifically for each space by one Bronx-based choreographer.
